STRINGS AND FRETS
STRINGS.
The guitar has six strings, each with a unique pitch and thickness. They are numbered from 1 to 6, starting from the thinnest string at the bottom to the thickest string at the top:
1st String – E (high E) – the thinnest and highest-pitched string.
2nd String – B.
3rd String – G.
4th String – D.
5th String – A.
6th String – E (low E) – the thickest and lowest-pitched string.
The first and sixth strings are both E notes but differ in pitch. These six strings create the foundation for chords
FRETS.
Guitar frets are the thin, metal strips running vertically along the neck of the guitar.
Frets are numbered from the top of the neck (closest to the tuning pegs) downward.
By pressing different frets on each string, you can create a variety of notes and form scales and chords.
.
CAPOS.
A guitar capo is a small clamp placed across the guitar’s neck on a specific fret.
By pressing down all the strings at once, it raises the pitch of each string. This allows you to play in different keys without changing your finger positions for chords.
